The Woodford Green rooms we know well
Woodford Green is more suburban than the inner-East London postcodes we usually work in. The housing is dominated by interwar and mock-Tudor semis and detached houses — bigger plots, wider bedrooms and proper entrance halls — with a scattering of larger homes backing onto Epping Forest around Monkhams Avenue and Broadmead Road. The extra space changes the brief: projects here are often whole-room or multi-room rather than a single wardrobe.
Fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms in large bedrooms. A typical IG8 master bedroom is wider and squarer than a terrace room, often with a 2.6–2.7m ceiling and room to run wardrobes along a full wall or wrap a corner. Where there’s a small box room or a generous landing, we sometimes convert it into a walk-in dressing room with open hanging, drawer banks and a dressing area rather than a single closed run.
Bay-window seats and alcove units. The 1930s semis have squared or angled bay windows that take a bench seat with storage below, and chimney breasts with alcoves either side that suit full-height cupboards or a mix of cupboards and open shelving.
Hallway and under-stairs joinery. The proper entrance halls in these houses justify a run of fitted cloak storage, and the staircases give up a useful volume underneath that we fit out with pull-out shoe and coat storage.
Larger homes and whole-house packages
Because Woodford Green rooms are bigger and clients often renovate several at once, a fair amount of our work here is multi-room: matching wardrobes, alcove units and hallway joinery across a house so the finish and proportions stay consistent. Painted shaker is the common request. The wider rooms and detached plots also make access straightforward — usually a driveway to unload on and no lift to book.
