Lambeth rooms and constraints
Lambeth is one of our wider-coverage areas across south London, and the housing is varied: Victorian terraces through Brixton, Herne Hill and Clapham, Georgian houses around Kennington, and a large stock of period conversion flats throughout the borough.
Terrace and flat bedroom wardrobes. The Victorian terraces here have the chimney-breast-and-recess bedroom layout we work with constantly, while the conversion flats need wardrobes designed around lower or uneven ceilings and tighter floor space. Both suit fitted over flat-pack — the bespoke piece uses the full height and scribes to walls that are rarely square.
Alcove units in reception rooms. The recesses either side of a chimney breast are the natural home for built-in cabinets and shelving. In Lambeth’s terraces these range from low cabinets with open shelving above to balanced full-height cupboards, usually with painted shaker doors to match the room.
Built-in storage for conversions. Period conversions often leave awkward returns, boxed-in chimney flues and shallow hallways that off-the-shelf furniture cannot use. A good share of our Lambeth work is built-in storage that turns those spaces into proper, usable cupboards.
Conservation areas and listed buildings
Lambeth has conservation areas across Kennington, Stockwell, Clapham, Brixton and Streatham Hill, with listed buildings concentrated among the Georgian terraces near Kennington. Conservation designation mainly governs the exterior, so indoor joinery is normally unaffected. Where a house is individually listed, internal alterations require Listed Building Consent; we work within those constraints and plan the timeline around obtaining consent before workshop work begins.
Adjacencies we cover
Lambeth sits in the middle of our south London coverage. We also reach Brixton, Herne Hill and Clapham (SW2, SE24, SW4) directly, and Southwark to the east — our existing work around Dulwich, Peckham and Bermondsey covers that side of the river. See the areas we cover for the full list.
