Hinged shaker wardrobe with a full-length mirror built into the cabinet’s side return — saves floor space, makes the small bedroom feel bigger.
A hinged shaker wardrobe in an Ealing Edwardian terrace master bedroom, with a full-length mirrored end panel built into the run so a separate mirror wasn't needed.

- The problem
- The bedroom was a small Edwardian room with no free wall for a standalone mirror, but the client wanted a full-length mirror as part of their getting-ready routine. A separate piece of mirrored furniture would have crowded the floor; mounting a mirror on the back of the door would have been a compromise on dressing-area lighting.
- The solution
- A four-bay hinged wardrobe run, with a tall mirrored end panel built into the side return of the cabinet structure. The mirror is in shadow during the morning (when the room window is bright) but lit by an LED strip above when needed. Cabinet faces are uniform shaker; the mirror reads as a side panel rather than as a separate component.
- Materials & finish
- 18mm Egger MFC carcass; MDF shaker doors painted Farrow & Ball Setting Plaster (No. 231); 6mm bevelled silver mirror on aluminium-backed panel; integrated 12V warm-white LED above mirror with rocker switch; brass push-to-open catches on doors.
- Outcome
- Full-length mirror integrated into the room's main piece of joinery rather than competing with it for floor space. Bedroom feels more spacious because the mirror creates the illusion of an extra metre of wall.
