Local questions

Joinery in Hackney Central: what people ask

Can you fit wardrobes in a warehouse-conversion flat with exposed brick?
Yes. Around London Fields and Broadway Market we work in a fair few warehouse and light-industrial conversions where one or two walls are exposed brick and nothing is plumb. We scribe cabinet sides to the brick face and set the run off a hidden timber batten, so the carcasses stay square even when the wall isn't.
My Hackney Central terrace has walls that clearly aren't square — is that a problem?
No, it's normal here and we plan for it. Older E8 terraces move over 130-odd years, so we measure diagonals and wall lean at survey and build scribe margins into every panel rather than assuming a flat drawing. The finished piece looks like it was always part of the room.
Is parking difficult for an install around Mare Street?
The streets off Mare Street and Amhurst Road can be tight, and Hackney operates controlled parking zones across most of the area, so a visitor permit is usually needed for install days. We'll flag when to arrange one and size components so they can be carried in without a huge vehicle sitting outside.
