Muswell Hill rooms that suit fitted joinery
Muswell Hill is one of our higher-spec areas. The housing is largely Edwardian — big bay-fronted terraces along Dukes Avenue and Queens Avenue, plus mansion blocks near the Broadway — built on a genuinely steep hill, which shapes both the rooms and the way we get furniture in.
Fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms in Edwardian bedrooms. These houses have generous master bedrooms, often 3.8-4.2m wide with ceilings near 2.9m and a deep front bay. We frequently build full-wall wardrobe runs and, where a small box or fourth bedroom exists, convert it into a walk-in dressing room with hanging on three walls. The scale here supports proper detailing — shaker or in-frame doors painted to match the cornice line.
Alcove and media joinery in reception rooms. The double-reception layout is common, with a chimney breast and two alcoves in each half. Owners here often want symmetry across both fireplaces, so we build matching alcove cabinetry with cabinet lighting and cable management for media in one half and library shelving in the other.
Bay-window and eaves storage. The bays are deep enough for window seats with lift-up or drawer storage beneath, and many houses have loft rooms with sloping ceilings where we build knee-wall eaves cupboards scribed to the rafter line.
Getting furniture up the hill
Muswell Hill famously has no Underground station, so everything arrives by road up a steep gradient — worth knowing because it makes access planning, not distance, the main logistical factor. Haringey operates controlled parking zones across much of the area, so a visitor permit is usually needed for install days, and on the narrower avenues we confirm the van can sit close enough to carry large sections in.
